The indie rock trio Vampire Weekend have just announced some super exciting news. They’re bringing fans the massive ‘ONLY GOD WAS ABOVE US’ TOUR to Canada. And guess what? The New York natives are bringing their latest and greatest hits to Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on Tuesday 24th September 2024.

The epic road trip comes in celebration of their new album. Ahead of the ‘Only God Was Above Us’ release on the 5th April, Vampire Weekend have built up hype over the five-year hiatus since their last release by unveiling two killer tracks from the LP: "Gen-X Cops" and "Capricorn." Inspired and haunted by twentieth Century New York City, the album was recorded all over the globe, from Manhattan to L.A. right through to London and Tokyo.

“With Only God Was Above Us, the band solidifies their position as pioneers of alternative music, offering listeners a profound understanding of the human experience through their art.” (QUEST.)

Formed in 2006, the New York natives are currently signed to Columbia Records and boast Ezra Koenig on lead vocals, guitar, and piano; Chris Baio on bass, backing vocals, and piano, as well as Chris Tomson on the drums, percussion, backing vocals, and guitar. This indie rock trio are the legends behind chart topping singles “A-Punk" and "Oxford Comma". Both songs featured on the band’s first album ‘Vampire Weekend’ in 2008. This album was so good that it’s been hailed as one of the greatest debut albums of all time by none other than the Rolling Stone!!

The ‘ONLY GOD WAS ABOVE US’ TOUR won’t only bring you their greatest hits but also some fresh material. This absolutely huge event comes in support of their new album of the same name. This is the fifth studio album from Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, and Chris Tomson — and their first full-length offering in five years after ‘Father of the Bride’. Nominated for the coveted Album of the Year Grammy, 2019’s ‘Father of the Bride’ snagged Best Alternative Album, marking the group's second victory in that category. Dubbed “a masterpiece” by David Fricke of Rolling Stone, the LP and its tour of sold-out arenas is the kind of hype we expect from this tour.

Ahead of the ‘Only God Was Above Us’ release on the 5th April, Vampire Weekend have got fans super excited by dropping two songs from the hotly awaited LP: "Gen-X Cops" and "Capricorn." Taking the title from a 1988 New York Daily News headline of a New Jersey subway graveyard, the album explores a number of emotions, experiences, characters and stories.

FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, Vampire Weekend are coming to Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. This is your unique chance to see the talented trio’s newest material from their grittiest album yet ‘Only God Was Above Us.’ Don’t wait around, grab your tickets today!
