Ne-Yo and Akon are set to perform at RBC Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 1st, as part of the “Nights Like These” tour, bringing a co-headlining show built around two established names in R&B and pop. This event offers a summer concert option centered on recognizable tracks that continue to receive steady play.
Ne-Yo’s is arguably the best voice of the two! No offense to Akon, but a lot of that in Lonely is autotune. If someone's going to lean into the R&B vibe at this event, it's going to be him. Now, that doesn't mean that Akon doesn't have anything to offer! Those "Convict Music" chants on their own are able to get a crowd on their feet. When they're followed by "Locked Up," you know it's about to get real. This mix makes for an interesting performance at the RBC Amphitheatre. Pairing Ne-Yo and Akon on the same stage was something that we actually already saw back in their club music heyday! That's when they did "Play Hard." At that time, both had already leaned heavily into the club music scene. That's likely going to continue on this tour. It's a party, and you're invited! In fact, it's one of the best shows coming to Toronto all year.
Ne-Yo will be in charge of the R&B as mentioned, with songs like "So Sick", "Miss Independent", and "Because of You." We've also got the entire lineup of the aforementioned "Convict Music" tracks. Those are going to get the crowd on their feet. That's one of the coolest elements of this show. Both of these guys have the ability to flip a switch and go from the romance to the party. When that happens, you're going to feel like you're at a club in the 2010s. Yup, those are the kind of trips down memory lane that we're getting treated to in the current music landscape. By the way that last statement was not a complaint!
RBC Amphitheatre gives you a few clear options depending on how you want to watch the show. Being close to the stage is the best choice for fans who had a poster of either of these two on their wall. These spots could also turn out to be where the party's at. You want to keep that in mind as well. For a show with multiple performers, having a clear angle of the stage can make a difference as each set moves along.
With Ne-Yo and Akon on the same lineup, this date at RBC Amphitheatre is expected to draw steady interest as August 1, 2026, gets closer. Right now, spots are starting at $61. That's a pretty good rate. We don't anticipate ticket prices dropping too much as we move closer to that August first date.
