The tour, which jumpstarts this June, will be traveling across the U.S. and Canada. On Tuesday, 14th June 2022, the Kingdom Tour stops at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Canada. Maverick City Music will bring their genre-crossing music, while Kirk Franklin will be performing his most-beloved hits, such as “Wanna Be Happy?,” “123 Victory,” “Love Theory,” and “Looking for You.” Get your tickets to this marvelous concert featuring two of the most sought-after contemporary gospel acts in the music scene!
Founded by Jonathan Jay and Tony Brown, Maverick City Music was created to welcome artists who feel like they don’t belong anywhere. Together, the collective creates “strong, diverse voices” to deliver a crucial message. True enough, the collective has gathered artists from different backgrounds but has commonality, especially when performing contemporary Christian songs. By April 2020, Maverick City Music released their debut album, Maverick City Volume 3 Part 1, with much critical acclaim. The album debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and number 2 on the Top Gospel Albums chart. Since their debut, the group has released eight studio albums and seven EPs. In 2021, Maverick City Music won the Top Gospel Album at the Billboard Music Awards for Maverick City Volume 3 Part 1. They also won a GMA Dove Awards for New Artist of the Year and Worship Album of the Year in the same year. Moreover, the group recently won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for their 2021 release, Old Church Basement.
Kirk Franklin joins Maverick City Music on this co-headlining tour. Like Maverick City Music, Franklin is a Dove awardee. The singer-songwriter and producer have 23 Dove Awards, 16 Grammy Awards, and one American Music Awards. Dubbed as the “Reigning King of Urban Gospel,” Franklin has 13 albums that peaked at number 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart, seven singles that topped the Hot Christian Songs chart.
