American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer Jim Gaffigan began his comedy career as a bet, when a friend encouraged him to do stand-up in his native Indiana. Having made a name for himself in the city as a comic and actor, Gaffigan moved to New York in 1990 and worked the comedy circuit there for a decade before making his big break on the Late Show with David Letterman. He then went on to land acting roles in shows such as That ’70s Show, Sex and the City, Third Watch, Ed and Law & Order. From 2015-2016, Gaffigan wrote, excutive produced and starred in The Jim Gaffigan Show, in which he and his wife played a fictionalized version of themselves raising five children in a two-bedroom New York City apartment.
