Deep Purple are considered to be one of the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. Originating from Hertfordshire, U.K. Their music explored the 1970’s, with a progressive sound. Deep Purple are often compared to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, who also rose to fame in the mid 70’s. Together they have been titled as “unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal.” The band have also been given the name of ‘loudest rock band’ by the Guinness Book of World Records making them one of the most important acts in music history!
Deep Purple have produced some of the most iconic guitar riffs such as in ‘Smoke On The Water’, the song was ranked number 434 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest songs of all time and reached number 4 in Total Guitar magazine’s Greatest Guitar Riffs Ever!
